How freeapt handles information

Version 1.0 — last updated 22 August 2026. This is a living document — see the version history at the bottom for how we'll handle updates.

1. Who we are

freeapt (freeapt.co.uk) is operated by the freeapt team. freeapt does not currently operate through a registered company — if that changes, we'll update this section and record it in the version history below.

Contact for any privacy question: privacy@freeapt.co.uk

2. What freeapt does today

freeapt is a free tool that generates a downloadable assured periodic tenancy agreement, for landlords managing properties in England. The current version requires no account and works entirely in your browser.

3. Information we collect today

Active now The details you type into the tenancy agreement form (landlord, tenant, property, rent, deposit, and any optional clauses) are used only to generate your PDF, entirely within your own browser. This information is not sent to or stored on any freeapt server.

This includes the landlord email field on the form — it's added to the generated document's contact details, but is not transmitted or stored anywhere by us.

We do not require an account, and we do not collect payment details.

4. Cookies and analytics

Active now

Fonts. This site's typefaces are hosted on our own server rather than loaded from Google Fonts or any other third party. Visiting the site doesn't send your data to a font provider — nothing about page rendering involves a third-party request of any kind.

Planned, not active We don't currently use any analytics tool — we have no visibility into visits or usage today. When we do add one, we'll update this section first to say exactly which tool, what it collects, and whether it uses cookies. If it does use cookies, we'll add a cookie consent banner before it goes live, in line with UK law — not after.

5. What happens as freeapt grows

freeapt has a public roadmap of planned features. None of the following are active yet — they're listed here so you know what's coming and how privacy will be handled at each stage, rather than being surprised later.

Emailing your agreement

Planned, not active When this launches, sending you a copy by email will require us to process your email address for that purpose. We'll update this policy to explain exactly what's stored, for how long, and why, before this feature goes live — not after.

Landlord accounts

Planned, not active Creating an account to track your tenancies over time will involve storing more information about you than freeapt does today. A revised version of this policy, including a clear explanation of your rights over that stored data, will be published before accounts launch.

E-signing

Planned, not active Signing an agreement through the site would involve a third-party e-signature provider processing your data under their own privacy terms. We'll link to those terms here once a provider is chosen.

6. Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), where freeapt does hold personal data about you, you have the right to:

Since freeapt doesn't currently store personal data on any server, most of these have little to act on today — but they apply in full from the moment we start storing information, and we'll make it easy to exercise them.

7. How we'll handle changes to this policy

Material changes — anything that changes what data we collect or how we use it — will be reflected here with an updated version number and date, and summarised in the table below. We won't make a substantive change silently.

VersionDateSummary
1.022 August 2026Initial publication.
1.122 August 2026Removed the advertising/data-sharing preview section pending further internal decisions — no change to what data is actually collected today.
